Previously, she co-hosted/moderated The Talk (2010-18) and co-anchored The Early Show (1999-10). Julie Suzanne Chen was born on January 6, 1970, in New York City. Her parents are David and Wan Lin Chen. She has two sisters, Gladys and Vicki. Chen speaks fluent English and some Mandarin. CAREER
Chen started out as an intern at CBS Morning News in 1990. Her duties at the time ranged from answering phone calls to sending faxes. Chen became a news assistant for ABC News in 1991. She was later promoted to producer. During her tenure, she produced for ABC NewsOne. Chen would later move to Dayton, Ohio, for a job with WDTN-TV. She served as the network’s news anchor from 1995 to 1997.
Chen served as anchor of the early morning news program CBS Morning News (1999-2002). She anchored ‘CBS This Morning’ and ‘The Early Show’ from 1999 to 2002. She also served as co-host of ‘The Early Show’ from 2002 to 2010. Chen began hosting the reality game show ‘Big Brother’ from its inception in 2000. The show is heavily based on the Dutch series of the same name. Big Brother’s 20th season premiered in June 2018. Chen co-hosted and served as moderator of the CBS daytime show The Talk (2010-18). The show was created by Sara Gilbert. The Talk shares some similarities to ABC’s The View.
